A man who laced treats with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males who were between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight children and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the children "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor said materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated the man went on to conduct the "treat game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.
The legal representative stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member called the police again.
She stated the man then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
